Dental Crowns

You are here: Professional /Dental Crowns

When tooth destruction has become extreme, occasionally we use a crown to bring it back to normal function. We also crown root-treated teeth, especially the back teeth to increase their service life. We crown some teeth to provide support for a bridge designed to replace missing teeth.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are reliable for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently, replacing missing teeth to restore the happy smile, and a functional bite for chewing. Patients recognize us at Building Smiles Dental Clinic for quality as we pursue the total health, and happiness of our patients.

Professionally, dentists consider dental crowns that provide five or more years of painless service to the patient as successful. The crowns we provide at Building Smiles Dental Clinic generally provide more years of uninterrupted satisfaction to our patients, compatible with the best practices all over the world. Few artificial tooth replacement services can provide such guarantees.

How long does it take to fit a dental crown?

Traditionally, fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove the tooth decay; shape the tooth, and record the result in an impression. We fit the tooth with a temporary crown of either a plastic or a metallic material on that visit. At the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown, and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place to recreate your beautiful tooth.

What are the capabilities of crowns?

Crown and bridgework are a very reliable solution to major dental problems caused through accidents, diseases, or wear and tear. Crowns and bridges using high-grade porcelain, or porcelain bonded to gold usually correct these problems.

Hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth commonly cause toothache. Crowning these teeth relieves the pain to encourage and a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can sometimes weaken the teeth and cause esthetic issues because of staining or chipping. Crowns can prevent breakage in root treated teeth.

Where accidental damage has occurred, resulting in lost teeth, or where teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking, crowns, and/or bridges provide an option for a long-term solution.
